There's an empty space outside my office window with a beach view. It's the balcony above the Chapel which we planned to transform into a community garden. However, as you will have previously read, with the tragic passing of Paul Riccardi, our Garden inspiration, the garden was at risk of coming to a halt. The word got out that we needed help to keep what had already been started alive and luckily Nathan, a community member, stepped forward to give it some TLC. This morning as I passed him in the street on my way to work he gave me a big shout out - "I have clippers now, I'll come and give it a good prune!"
Through our good friend Lance from Transition Bondi, we made contact with Costa Geordiadis with the hope that he might be moved by our story and help us build our garden. Costa is the happy, bearded permaculturalist from ABC's Gardening Australia program and Bondi Resident. AND... HE SAID YES! This is the email I received on the morning of Paul's funeral, which was perfect timing:
