Dear Friends of the Chapel,
Sometimes people make large and obvious contributions to the world around them. Sometimes more humble or even anonymous contributions are made that seem small for the person giving, but are received with joy and gratitude by those receiving. We have had a spate of humble and anonymous contributions of late, and it always fills my heart with joy to be able to report them back to you. Last week someone shopping at one our Op Shops found out they are run by volunteers – and baked banana bread for everyone to share around. Also last week, we farewelled someone who spent a few months with us while they sorted a few things out and then headed back home – in their time with us they graciously and peacefully contributed and added to the life of our worshiping community and our North Bondi Op Shop. There is a fellow who I only know as David who brings in bread and pastries twice a week or so. We are currently re-doing the community garden on the veranda at Norman Andrews House – the person who is supposed to be selling us the materials is making a huge donation in kind, at cost to himself to make it work. On a regular basis the people of Thornleigh Uniting Church bring us food hampers to be shared with those doing it tough. There is so much more I could write, and will over time. We thank you all for partnering with us in such practical and meaningful ways - we are very blessed by each and every contribution everyone makes to our work and ministry here in the Bondi Beach area.
Don’t forget our ‘Uniting Hearts’ Interfaith gathering this Sunday night, starting at 7pm at the Chapel. It will be a rich, spiritual and engaging experience full of singing, poetry, chanting, prayer, readings and thoughtful input and guidance. The evening will be led by a variety of vibrant and distinguished guests and contributers, joining with a desire to honour and draw out that which is sacred in all of us. We gather expecting to be unified and surprised by the Spirit of love and peace – a movement needed now as much as at any other time, maybe more so. Please, come and be part of this spirit-filled evening as we join together seeking that which unites and resonates within us for the common good.
Thanks for being a friend of the Chapel,
