Dear Friends of the Chapel,
I never cease to be amazed by the number of people around here at the chapel who have such heart-breaking stories of struggle and brokenness, and yet who can produce music that is engagingly beautiful, proficient and whole. As if on cue, as I write this, a community member has just now stepped into 'Ruby's Place' at the Chapel and is playing an enchanting classical piece. Many can sing, some play guitar while others play the piano there is one fellow who plays the harmonica – although he is one of those of us who play our instruments joyfully, if not tunefully. I have been privileged enough to be in the right place at the right time to hear the outpourings of some extremely heartfelt tunes being played in a number of different settings here – it regularly lifts my soul.
It was Hans Christian Anderson who said "where words fail, music speaks", and that being the case, music here is a conduit for speaking of the hope for healing and wholeness.
We are 'sold out' for the Watoto Children's Choir, thanks for your enthusiastic response. For those of you who are coming, I look forward to seeing you on the night – if we haven't met before, please seek me out and say hello.
With the end of the financial year fast approaching, can I remind you that one way you can make a meaningful contribution to the work of the Chapel is through a financial donation. Our work with those who sleep rough in this area is growing, and our commitment to being here to do this work is as strong as ever. Could I encourage you to consider partnering with us financially to ensure this important and faithful work remains strong. Donations can be made by cheque to "Bondi Beach Community Centre", or through electronic means – for details contact Jackie at [email protected]
Peace and Blessings,
Rev. Graham Anson.
