Last week, we were featured in the Wentworth Courier with a piece called ‘Ten things you might not have known about Chapel by the Sea’. Here are just a few:
- Chapel by the Sea is one of only 8 missions in NSW. We are different from regular churches in that our purpose, apart from providing ministry, is to raise money through business ventures & donations to do good works within the broader community.
- The Chapel co-owns and runs Norman Andrews House which provides about 100 free breakfasts and 200 free lunches every week to people in need. It is named after a homeless war veteran who lived on the streets of Bondi before he was killed in a road accident in 1988.
- The Chapel's minister, Reverend John, is a singer, writer, poet and surfer. At a family's request he recently scattered the ashes of a community member off his surfboard and into the water.
- The chapel is visited by Tibetan Buddhist Monks, Yogis, Rabbis, Shayakh, and Interfaith Ministers as part of its ongoing celebration of inclusiveness.
