Community GardenAmidst the bustle of urban living, a spot of nature is always appreciated. So what better to do with the Chapel by the Sea's balcony than add a garden?
The inspiration for our community garden was from our dear friend Paul, who was a regular at Norman Andrews House. Paul was an integral part of of the set up and design of the Chapel's balcony garden. He envisioned planting native edible plants, a seed bank, the recycling of unwanted plants and establishing educational frameworks so the community could learn about gardening. Paul saw this garden as his way of giving back to the community that has given him so much. Sadly Paul died suddenly in February 2014. The community, with the help of local resident and expert landscape architect, permaculturist and host of ABC's Gardening Australia Costa Georgiadis, have decided to continue on with Paul's vision to make the community garden on the Chapel's rooftop a reality. |
