Doug Hewitt attended the World Council of Churches 10th Assembly in Busan, South Korea last year. The theme of the Assembly was “God of life, lead us to justice and peace”. The reports and outcomes of the gathering were published in The Ecumenical Review. Doug will discuss with us his report and give a visual presentation of his time at the World Assembly.
Doug began his teaching career in Central West NSW. Then after many years based in Sydney, teaching at the Catholic Teachers College and the Australian Catholic University, Doug retired to work with the National Council of Churches and the NSW Ecumenical Council. Since moving to Newcastle, he has involved in the Hunter Presbytery and Hamilton Wesley church. He has a commitment to the causes of justice and peace, particularly with the Palestinian peoples.
